We are an international platform for collective advocacy and information sharing on protection, restoration, conservation of forests and environmental management.
Who We Are
Mother Earth Network was founded by Fr. Hermann Borg, who is a member of the Order of Friar Minors. He came to Africa in 1983 when his Order invited Friars to frontier and join the Vicariate of East Africa and Madagascar. His first posting was at Lower Subukia in Nakuru, Kenya.

Creating Awareness
Mother Earth Network raises awareness among stakeholders while at the same time building their capacity in tree planting and environmental conservation and management.
We mobilize stakeholders for participation in policy formulation, implementation, networking and partnership creation.
Mother Earth seeks network and partnership for joint engagement on emerging issues related to environmental conservation and management.

Founder
While Fr. Hermann Borg was at Subukia he started collecting tree seeds and creating small seed beds at the friary. Later on, he started buying trees from Kenya Forest Services tree nurseries in big numbers and distributing them to the residents. Little did he know that he was forming a trust that will later become big and initiate projects beyond Subukia.
Mother Earth Network was registered as a trust in 2014, a year before Laudato Si was released by Pope. Over six million trees had by then been planted and growing within Subukia and the neighboring Parishes.
Subukia people appreciate the good work that Fr. Hermann did. Precipitation in the area has increased, making it possible for the residents to get a good harvest that sustains their livelihood.
